Macron says US diesel ban would be 'bad' decision

France's President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday said any ban on US diesel exports backed by President Donald Trump would be a "bad" decision, including for the US economy.

"This decision would be bad, not just for the rest of the world. For the US economy as well," he said during an interview with TF1 and France 2 during the evening news.

Macron said that any such move would not directly impact France.

"Our main suppliers are the Nigerians, the Saudis, it's on the global market, so we're not directly dependent," he said.

"But a decision like this will have an impact, and diesel prices will go up."
